What Macy's Announced for the Holidays

In its September 24 announcement, Macy's, Inc. said it is filling seasonal part-time roles in its stores and full- and part-time roles at select supply chain sites. It scheduled three national hiring days at every Macy's, Bloomingdale's and Bluemercury store. The first ran September 24. The other two fall on Thursday, October 22, and Thursday, November 19.

Miami made the company's short list twice. It is named among the top hiring markets for both Macy's and Bloomingdale's, alongside cities like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Bluemercury's list does not include Miami.

One thing the company did not do: publish a headcount for Miami or a national total. We won't guess one. What we can say is that current postings this week include seasonal openings at Macy's at Dadeland and at Bloomingdale's in Aventura.

💵 What It Pays and What Comes With It

Macy's says every posting lists a pay range, so you see the number before you apply. Read the listing for the exact store and role, since ranges differ by job and location. The company lists colleague discounts, 401(k) savings, early access to earned wages and an employee assistance program among its benefits, with medical, dental and vision coverage based on eligibility. Ask at the store which of those apply to a seasonal schedule.

The company also pitches seasonal work as a door to something longer, through its training and development programs. If you'd like to stay on after the holidays, say so in the interview.

📋 How to Show Up Ready on Oct. 22

Call your store first. Macy's says event times vary by location. A two-minute call saves a wasted trip down the Palmetto.
Apply online before you go. Having an application in the system gives the hiring manager something to pull up.
Bring ID. If you're hired, you'll complete federal work-authorization paperwork.
Know your availability. Holiday retail runs on nights, weekends and the days around Thanksgiving. Have your real schedule ready.
Dress like you'd work the floor. Neat and comfortable beats formal.

Can't make Oct. 22? The November 19 hiring day is your second shot, though some holiday spots may be filled by then.
