Miami's Fall Restaurant Openings Are Hiring: Kush Wynwood, Uchibā, UKIYO and Zebra Club

MIAMI, FL — Fall is when Miami's restaurant calendar resets, and this year four high-profile openings from Brickell to Wynwood to South Beach are lining up at once. For cooks, bartenders and hosts, that means new kitchens to staff before winter, and two are already taking applications.

A Wynwood favorite comes back with apartments for hospitality workers upstairs, Uchi's owners bring Uchibā to Mary Brickell Village, and Lincoln Road and 20th Street each get a splashy new room. Here is where the fall restaurant jobs are.

Kush Wynwood Reopens With Workforce Housing Upstairs

Matt Kuscher's burger spot on North Miami Avenue has been dark for years. It reopens in October as the anchor of Kush Korner, a roughly 7,500-square-foot project that includes 10 studio apartments set aside for hospitality workers, protected by a 50-year affordability agreement. The housing was developed with the Omni Community Redevelopment Agency, and the units are meant for restaurant and bar workers across the city, not only Kush staff. Rents and income limits have not been published.

On the jobs side, Kush Hospitality's hiring page lets applicants pick Wynwood or Brickell and attach a resume, and the group says it replies within one to two business days. No headcount has been announced, so apply early rather than waiting for a posting that names the role. Kuscher summed up the rebuild simply: "Everything in my restaurants has a story, and Kush Wynwood may have more than any of them."

Uchibā Brings Uchi's Bar Concept to Brickell

Hai Hospitality, the Austin group behind Uchi Miami in Wynwood and Uchiko in Miami Beach, is opening its first Florida Uchibā in Mary Brickell Village, in a space of about 3,500 square feet that once held Toscano Divino. Think izakaya: yakitori, bao, sashimi and Japanese whisky.

The opening has slipped from the spring target announced last year. Uchibā's own site still lists Miami as coming soon, and current restaurant coverage points to November. What has not slipped is recruiting. Hai Hospitality has posted Uchibā Brickell roles including sushi chef, line cook, prep cook, pastry cook, host, server, bartender and server assistant, and some sushi postings say new hires train at Uchi Miami first. UKIYO and Zebra Club Add Big Rooms in Miami Beach

On Lincoln Road, NOAH Hospitality Group is building UKIYO, a 7,431-square-foot conveyor-belt sushi restaurant on the second level of 818 Lincoln Road, with executive chef Nono Shigetomi. Planned hours run late, 6 p.m. to midnight most nights and until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. That means a big late-night crew, but no hiring details have been released. Get your resume ready and watch for postings.

A few blocks north, Zebra Club is taking over the basement of the Townhouse Hotel on 20th Street. The partners are chef Michelle Bernstein, bartender Naren Young and operators David Martinez and Dan Binkiewicz, the team that worked together at Sweet Liberty. A supper-club format with tableside martini service means polished servers and bartenders. The Zebra Club site takes job inquiries at careers@zebraclubmiami.com. No opening date has been announced.
