The Miami Law Enforcement Hiring Expo runs Friday, October 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport West, just off the Palmetto Expressway west of MIA. It's free for career seekers, and it covers both sworn officer jobs and civilian support roles.

What the Miami Law Enforcement Hiring Expo Is

The expo is organized by Reliant Hiring Solutions, which runs law enforcement recruiting events in cities across the country. The format is simple: agencies set up tables, and career seekers walk the room, ask questions and learn each department's hiring process. Reliant says its expos draw federal, state, county and municipal agencies. Questions go to Reliant at 1-800-572-9041.

Here's the catch worth knowing up front. Reliant has not published a list of the agencies attending the Miami expo. Registered career seekers get that list before the event, the best reason to sign up now. Registration is free and is not a job application; you still apply to each agency separately.

🔥 Sworn and Civilian: Two Paths Through the Same Door

A police agency is more than patrol cars. Departments also hire dispatchers, records staff, crime scene technicians, analysts and office support. If the academy isn't for you, the civilian side still puts you inside public safety.

For sworn jobs, Florida sets a statewide floor under Section 943.13 of the Florida Statutes. Officers must be at least 19, U.S. citizens and high school graduates or the equivalent. They must pass a background investigation, a physical exam and fingerprinting, and have no felony convictions or dishonorable discharge. New hires also finish basic recruit training and pass the state certification exam. Agencies often add their own requirements, so ask each recruiter.
